World building with Midjourney
I self-published my first novel (and probably my last). I wrote for two hours each night during my partner's pregnancy, after she'd gone to bed, and published it with a dedication to my son on his arrival.
It's something I'd always wanted to do, but I never understood how much time, effort, and discipline it actually takes.
I used Midjourney as part of my process, to help visualise the world, the people, and the places I was writing about.

With the emergence of 3D icons — led by the revamp of Airbnb — I set about the challenge of creating a range of icons for the Sedex platform. This was purely exploratory: I wanted to test how AI would deliver these based on certain prompts, and how consistent the results would be.
I then wanted to explore the possibilities of converting these into SVGs through Figma plugins.

Introducing a 'Camo' App Tile developed in collaboration with leading mobile companies. Refuge, a charity supporting victims of domestic violence, faces challenges due to a surge in calls during the pandemic. An app for victims poses potential risks if their device is being monitored. To address this, we conceived a unique solution—a disguised app tile. Partnering with mobile companies, we will integrate their wallpapers to create a bespoke design, ensuring the app remains hidden on a user's phone, offering vital support without alerting potential abusers.

Proposing a digital app concept for a startup model and talent agency committed to a paperless approach from the outset. The app encompasses model and talent portfolios, bios, and a launch magazine. Future developments include semi-annual AR model catwalks to preview available models before shows. Additionally, the app serves as a platform for the agency to spotlight their perspectives on social and environmental issues, raising awareness. The following examines a study of motion and interaction within the app menu.

During Covid, I returned to Yorkshire and had a memorable, ill-prepared hike in the Peak District. Due to the covid restrictions on the terraces closing footbal stadiums, it seemed I wasn’t the only one new to hiking.
Undeterred, I continued hiking, observing a subculture emerging—hikers upgrading their attire as a form of one-upmanship just like on the terraces. Inspired by this, I created a quick prototype for Adidas celebrating this subculture's evolution. The format is landscape on both desktop and mobile, asking the user to ‘turn to landcape’ just as we all did in the height of the pandemic. I added a playful "cop it or drop it" feature (familair to terrace types in fashion forums) to engage users with the Terrex range in a fun way.

I'm interested by the potential of decentralized apps (dApps) to disrupt monopolised industries.
However, my excitement for exploring d'apps is often dampened by prevalent issues such as bugs, functionality glitches, and poor UI/UX & Art Direction. While there's an argument that this mirrors the early days of the internet, it's challenging to defend given the abundance of well-designed apps in today's landscape.
Among the d'apps, I'm rooting for Audius. If it lives up to its mission, it could revolutionize how musicians showcase and are compensated for their work.
To address some UI/UX issues with Audius, I undertook a rapid design challenge. This involved identifying top-level issues and swiftly creating a redesigned prototype for the app's Feed and Trending screens based on those findings.

Exploring the NFT's potential impact on the music industry, especially for struggling musicians during challenging times. NFTs offer a fresh way for artists to share and monetise their work, providing fairer payment through unique features like sell-on fees. This revolutionary approach ensures creators receive royalties each time their NFT is resold—a game-changer for artists seeking fair compensation. Imagine Skinny Pelembe releasing a limited edition NFT with a sell-on fee; as its value grows, both the seller and Skinny Pelembe benefit from the resale. Here's a simplified concept for a Music NFT D'app, envisioning a future where artists find balance between creating exceptional music and getting paid fairly.

IOU Club simplifies expressing gratitude to remote colleagues, a response to the pandemic's challenge of showing appreciation in the workplace. With traditional gestures like buying a drink or sharing a meal no longer feasible, IOU Club brings this camaraderie to the digital realm. Users visit IOU.CLUB, purchase tokens, and digitally send them with a thank-you message via email. Recipients use the tokens in the IOU store, created using blockchain and Rally project, ensuring the value remains undisclosed. The store, operating with drop shipping from independent businesses, supports them during the pandemic. The UI incorporates playful animations, resembling a digital vending machine, adding a touch of nostalgia.

Capitalising on the 25th-anniversary release of Space Jam: A New Legacy in 2021, I sought
to engage a new generation of potential fans. Leveraging modern digital techniques, we introduced an AR Basketball Shoot Out game accessible through a mobile app. Initially launched at iconic locations globally, including Piccadilly Circus in London and Times Square in New York, players competed against the clock for the highest score. The game incorporated Mariokart-esque extras, like 'Super Dunk' power-ups, mimicking iconic scenes from the original Space Jam. Timeouts allowed strategic moves, while super blocks disrupted opponents' slam dunks. Adding complexity, AR characters from the opposing team attempted to block shots. In the real world, Piccadilly Circus displayed a live scoreboard, with daily high scorers winning prizes such as a VIP red carpet experience to the film's premiere.

Addressing the alarming surge in LGBT hate crime in the UK, I concepted a groundbreaking app concept aimed at empowering the community. With hate crimes often going unreported due to distrust or normalisation, this app offers a vital tool. Users can mark locations as 'unsafe' in real-time or later, creating a live map of problematic areas. For individuals on the move, the app sends alerts, suggesting safer routes.
The app's impact goes beyond individual safety:
Police Collaboration: Collated data is shared with the police to enhance resource allocation and efficiency in addressing hate crimes.
Awareness Campaigns: Identifying problem areas allows targeted awareness and educational campaigns, fostering community resilience.
Accurate Reporting: Encouraging incident notes within the app, even if not reported to the police, ensures more accurate data. This data, when shared with the government, contributes to raising awareness and advocating for stricter punishments for LGBT hate crimes. The app creates a safe space to log incidents, protecting the community while working toward legal change.
